Polyurea spray coating is one of the most popular choices for industrial coatings. Liquid polyurea coatings dry very quickly, while powder coatings take longer to dry. Also, both types of polyurea coating are easy to install, which allows them to be placed over just about any surface. One of the most common polyurea coating ingredients is amine-terminated polyurethane, or ATP. For example, there are lacquer-type additives available which attack rust and corrosion by creating a thin protective film. Other additives include UV stabilization, which makes the coating resistant to sunlight; thermoset polyurethane, which hardens when exposed to heat and becomes almost like metal; and polyurethane binder resins, which bind together polyurethane molecules into a single, more durable layer.

With proper care, any coating can last for up to three decades, though the most resistant coating will begin to show signs of wear around the third year of continuous application. That’s because, over the long run, polyurea resin coatings provide greater resistance to abrasion. If a coating fails to keep pace with wear and tear, it will not last long enough to make a real difference in building material costs.
